Games of the Future 2025 delivered in a big way, according to a new report from market research firm IPSOS. The event, which was held in Abu Dhabi, attracted 461 million broadcast views across just six days in December, alongside 137 million unique viewers and 59 million hours watched.

Social media added another layer, generating 388 million views and 2.4 million interactions, with TikTok, Facebook and Instagram leading the way.

MOBA titles led viewership at 45% of the total, while phygital disciplines accounted for 38% – Phygital Football alone driving 19%. Phygital Basketball, Phygital Fighting and Phygital Shooter also showed a strong audience share.

Streaming captured 82% of total viewership, with creator-led content contributing 24 million views across 64 channels. Traditional broadcast extended reach in key markets where streaming penetration is lower.

Southeast Asia and China combined for 25% of total viewership, while Latin America contributed 21% – driven mainly by demand for Phygital Football. And 90% of viewers were aged 18 to 34, showing the event’s appeal to younger audiences.

John Hewitt, International Marketing and Communications Director at Phygital International, said the figures reflect a format built for how people consume sport and competition today.

“These independently verified results show the scale of what is being built through the Games of the Future,’ he added. “Audiences are responding to a format that reflects how they engage with sport, with strong demand across both digital and phygital disciplines. We are seeing the foundations of a truly global competition.”

The success of last year’s tournament bodes well for Games of the Future 2026 which launches in Astana, Kazakhstan on 29 July and runs until 9 August.

Highlights and replays from Abu Dhabi are available on the official phygital broadcast channel Phygital+
